Coconut Flour Organic
Coconut Flour Organic is made from finely ground coconut meat with most of the fat and moisture removed. A great flour alternative for celiac and diabetics as it is gluten free, high in fibre, naturally low in carbohydrates and is very cost effective when compared to most other nut flours. Even though coconut flour is gluten free, it still provides a good source of protein that is equal to the amount of protein found in whole wheat flour.
Much of the fibre in this nutritious flour is the insoluble type, which helps you feel full, adds bulk to your stool, enhances colon health and deters constipation. Coconut flour doesn’t spike your blood sugar levels as quickly as other grain-based flours because of its high fibre content.
Coconut flour also contains a significant amount of protein, especially when compared to wheat flour. A 100-gram serving of coconut flour has 19 grams of protein while wheat flour has just 10. Although this protein doesn’t contain all the essential amino acids, it does contribute to your total daily protein intake to help with cell repair and growth.
Coconut flour also contains about 9 grams of healthy fats per 100 grams. Although these fats are mostly saturated, they’re a type called medium-chain triglycerides, which provide instant energy, digest easily and may boost your metabolism.
Coconut flour is mildly sweet with a slightly nutty taste and can be used to add flavour and reduce the amount of sugar when baking breads, cakes, muffins, cookies, pies, deserts and even main meals!
When baking, it is recommended you replace between 10 to 20 percent of the wheat flour with coconut flour. You may need to add extra liquid as coconut flour is very absorbent due to its high fibre content.
Storage: After opening, we recommend storing coconut flour in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer to keep it fresh.
